I am fortunate to be able to attend this conference as part of joint MS Innovative Teacher of the Year Award for 2008/9. As such, I am following in the footsteps of
John Pearce and
Andrew Douch, the previous awardees.
All Australian winners will meet with other Asia/Pacifica winners at this conference. Each of us are to prepare a poster on our work. Mine will be centred around the theme –“My global classroom in a digital world”. The poster is 2.25 m x 1 m and as I did not get a professionally made one, mine currently, consist of 33 A4 laminated sheets or paper.
I have tried to capture my e-journey that started with a Backyard blog 18 monthgs ago to virtual/global classroom work using skype for videoconferencing and ellluminate and discoverE for virtual/online classes. My students and I have travelled virtually from one end of the earth to the other, from Eastern Russia, to Antarctica. Photos make up the major contribution to the poster. These capture the engagement of my students and the excitement and learning that has taken place.
I will attach my handout that will be available to any interested parties at the conference once I get home.
