Parents-Of.com - Free websites for school parent communities

While probably not the daily business of teachers, if any of your schools are struggling to get online communities happening, this might be good news.

The Parents-Of.com website is a local firm providing free sites for school parent communities. After a pilot of 4 Melbourne schools in 2008 they now have over 350 school community sites (funded by on-site advertisements). For the full story, visit http://www.parents-of.com/

From the site: "Each P&C Association is eligible to receive their very own free parents-of website. Sign-up today and have your new site live this time next week. There’s nothing to download, we create the site for you. The websites are designed to create a vibrant space for the school’s parents to connect, share, become involved and to be informed and entertained. Each school will have their own unique website address presented as www.sampleschool.parents-of.com

And unlike other website systems, the parents-of site will not require the P&C to be prolific publishers to keep the site alive and ever changing. Your school community and the people at parents-of will provide almost all of the content making it a place parents will want to visit often."
