2009 Innovation Showcase

Teaching for seven years, I started at Collingwood College before working in a specialist Media College in London. I am now a senior media-studio art teacher at Fitzroy High working with a team of innovative educators all dedicated to the integration and exploration of the new digital frontier.

Digital tutorials - My "show me" presentation.

Using video cameras, screen-capture technology and digital editing software, students document their progress as they create digital tutorials. While digital tutorials became invaluable measures of their learning, they also became crucial learning tools in themselves when shared on a YouTube page for the whole class to access. While the class focused on making comic books, the process they used to get there could be applied to any subject. Discover the uses of these cool learning tutorials to make your teaching more effective.

Hi there Travis. I was hoping I could get your help. We are collecting stories of teacher innovation in action and was hoping you might be able to recount one or two stories of how you have introduced new ways of doings things into a school and what happened as a result. I've started a discussion forum on this topic, which is probably the best place to put your stories if anything springs to mind. Thanks.
