Does anyone know of an author or writer who would be interested in connecting with students in Pakistan via Skype?

My K- 12 school in Pakistan is hosting a WORD WEEK during the first week of March (celebrating both reading and writing) With issues related to the school's location and limited budget it is extremely hard to entice authors or writers to come and share their expertise. I would really like our students to have contact with authors / writers. So, if you are a writer and would be interested in a Skype session with our students and teachers please let me know. If you know of any authors that I…See More

Profile Information

Do you work in the education sector? What is your role?
I have been an educator for 26 years. This is my second year as curriculum coordinator at Lahore American School. My job covers - planning & implementing professional development workshops, supporting teachers: planning, developing unit of work, establishing learning centers, centralising school resources. I also am responisble for coordinating family curriculum sessions: literacy, maths, science & Technology, earth day. I am the MAPS (online assessment) coordinator & trainer. I also report weekly to the Principals of the different sections of the school & montly to the school board. I began my career as a classroom teacher at a local cathollic school in Adelaide in 1985. During my time in Australia I took part in state and Australia wide action research projects. In 1977 I secured my first overseas job in PNG at the Lae International school (TISOL). I stayed there for 3 years. I then moved to Jakarta where I was employed at a local private school (PSKD Mandir) as a 'leading teacher'. The school was established as an on site training school for local teachers. During my 8 years the school gradually expanded from early childhood to year 11. My role was to support and guide the teachers in implementing a curriculum which was child centered, innovative, applied current education theories and practices. I would met individually with teachers fom early childhood to year 11 and help them plan their lessons, units etc. I would also spend time in classrooms modelling & generallly supporting teachers. I was also responsible for ordering resources for the entire school. After leaving Jakarta I moved to Shanghai and returned to the classroom for two years as part of a team of year 1 teacher.
Describe any innovative projects that you would like to pursue for which you are seeking collaborative partners
At this moment I don't have any particular project in mind but would be willing to listen to ideas from the group. I love working in a collaborative situation
