Hi Helena,
I have finally today received the email addresses of some Indonesian students! It is a slow process even with the good contacts that I have. Now all I have to do is invite them and hope that they can reply understanding the English. It's still little steps! I've only bought the iPods on line. They are the new ones which have the cameras back and front. This means that they can be used for filming (no changing the type of file as with Flip cameras) and face to face talking if I can get an iPod Touch or two to Indonesia! I intend getting my students to film sections of their life in English to put on the wiki for the Indonesian students to see and then ask for the same back. I will also be asking my students to design a survey on Google docs like they answered for me at the beginning. I shall hopefully then have the Indonesian students reply and because it's on google docs it won't matter when they answer it. I noticed on the Ning there is a place for google docs. I shall have a chat with my ICT expert. Again it's a slow process. Keep up your good work! Slow and steady wins the race, is an old saying
Hi Helena, I've just found this section! It probably helps that I am running a Ning with my students, but it's only a mini Ning. So far I have my student group on line and getting used to using it. I think that I only have one or two to go and all will have their pages up and running. Then I need to get the Indonesian students on line. The teachers are slowly coming on board. I wish that one in particular would read the invitation email and respond to it, but the English teacher has responded on Facebook and so things look promising. I will hopefully be able to run the work from the students on the BRIDGE wiki with her so that our two classes can really work together. As I put on the discussion page, I have bought 8 iPod touches which will enable me to do so much . I hope to buy one or two for the Indonesians with the BRIDGE funding so that we can have that instant face to face contact during class time or after or whenever to get real conversation going in the future. I just have to wait as our business manager is away and the account is showing $0 instead of $1000. I know that I have requested that it be carried over. She is on holidays until later this month. I will just need to be patient! How are you going?
