It started as a normal, fairly mundane school day.........
Well connected teachers will find there are many ways to learn, share and teach, teachable moments arise constantly and interruptions to normal routines may become the norm. Yesterday was one such day, when normal classes were planned and a relaxing night at home anticipated, but....

Our Hawkesdale P12 College year 6 students linked up virtually with Lismore Primary School (approximately 1 1/4 hours drive away) to share war stories of their great or great great grandparents. As Australia celebrates Anzac Day tomorrow, April 25th, to remember those who fought for our country, this was great use of polycom equipment and smart boards to be able to connect and…

Students in year 7 are learning how to use some of the lesser known features of MS Powerpoint. After creating animations in Powerpoint, I was going to get them to create games in Powerpoint. This was dependent on them accessing a file in the network drive in a 2011 folder. To my dismay, the folder had been removed. Now what!
I had just finished chatting to Lorraine Leo in skype re the imminent hurricane that was soon to…

Hands were up all over the classroom from students new to Scratch trying to complete their sprite. Patiently the teacher moved around the room, answering those questions.

Adrian Camm said… Hi Anne (posted this here - http://guidetoinnovation.ning.com/events/games-games-design-skills-needed-for-a-career-in-games#comments,
No problem at all - would love to chat :)
We could also connect with your elective at a time that suits you - let me know when your timetabled and what you guys are doing - we have some game designers here at Quantum Victoria that would love to work with your students virtually.
This session will be recorded and i'll post the link back here.
Hi Anne,
Glad to hear your are having fun with the link.
I have just come back from an ICT education conference in Singapore. That was a link from Tomas Daccord - who was presenting on it... in another room - while I was in another session - but following others tweets.
I went to a couple of Tomas's talks - he was great and very approachable. He is on Twitter - and perhaps I'll ask him and get back to him.
Cheers

Matt Porter said… G'day Anne,
I was part of the Digital Literacy Trial in 2010 and really liked the activities. I'm back to teaching grade six and would love to do them again. Are they still on the internet?
Thanks

I hope all is going well.
I have created a ning waiting for approval for different course at Vic Uni for PreService Teachers called Victoria University Pre-Service teachers New Learning. I would like this group to attend your Tech Tuesday Elluminate sessions. Would that be ok. There is about 40 students not sure how many will join but I definitely would like to encourage them.
Thank you for sharing your 2010 Showcase presentation. Its fantastic. For some reason I am having difficulty downloading it. Are you able to email it to me faranda.lidia.l@edumail.vic.gov.au.

Daniel Donahoo said… Hey Anne -
I am well aware of a lot of your great work. I have just started doing some work for ChildFund Connect - am I right in the assumption your school engaged with this project?
My brother is down your way - teaches in Warrnambool...I might have to drop in some time and see the innovation in action.
cheers
Dan
