How many maths teachers are using iPods in the classroom for learning? This week we used the free app "iChoose" to collect class data to show that the more experimental trials you do the closer your results get to the theoretical probability. You can use the iPod calculator to work out calculate totals and percentages. We used both the coin toss and dice - "Maths can be fun Mrs Gow!"

Hi all,

It's great to have a few members in the Maths group to share teaching and learning strategies. I've started the term with probability in my Year 7 maths class, using Maths 300 activities, which include concrete materials and computer resources. We have played a few dice games, including "Problem Dice" and "Dice Differences", and used computer simulations to generate data for many hundreds of games. This resource is very useful for showing how long-range frequencies approach the theoretical results of experiments.
I'd like to hear what activities you use when teaching probability.
regards, Britt Gow
