Educators' Guide to Innovation

Connecting educators interested in innovation

Department of Education and Early Childhood Development has sent out information to Victorian schools inviting them to express interest in undertaking Innovating with Technologies research in 2010. Grants of up to $5000 will be offered to schools who take up the challenge.

Information can be found at http://www.education.vic.gov.au/researchinnovation/technology/grant...

Please note, deadline for applications is March 5th!

I am interested in hearing from 2 other rural schools that are interested, preferably in the Hume region, and might have some good project ideas. I was very keen to implement eFolios of students in year 5/6 leading into the Ultranet introduction. I understand that many primary schools are using eFolios, particularly those in the Netbook trials. Would love to do some information sharing.

Thanks Jennifer, for sharing this link with us. This is an obvious place to put opportunities like this. Many of us (as teachers) never hear what grants are available. Yet they encourage us to innovate, with full support and financing.
I have also added a link to your discussion in the rural education group and tomorrow night we are starting up Tech Talk Tuesdays, so I will bring these grant opportunities to the attention of the participants involved.
I am not in Hume - Grampians - and I am interested in developing the hybrid or online school. Have a look at my faculty web site to see what I mean. Long way to go but I feel that I have started.

PS Our Years 9 and 10 are down for notebooks this year. Already considering blogs and online surveys eg surveymonkey.
Hi Richard,
Great to hear from you. I have contacted one of our local cluster schools and they are happy to come on board. I think it would be great to work with a school outside our cluster. The only issue I would see would be the age differences in our students and how we would develop rubrics and other assessment tools to capture the learning from year 5 to year 10. There is always a way! Look forwar to your post.
Jenny
I suppose we could have an ebuddy system where your kids could show their eportfolios to ours. A bit of a long shot!!! Let me dwell upon it - except Friday cometh. Good luck, surely some other school in your region can come on board. Keep us in mind. Of course our netbook kids will be at Years 9/10.
